The Partnachklamm gorge

An unmatched spectacle of nature in both summer and winter

Welcome to one of the most beautiful natural monuments in Bavaria! New fascinating sights, wherever you look: Declared a natural monument in 1912, the Partnachklamm gorge in the neighboring town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen with its wild waterfalls,
rapids and pools fascinates young and old.

Whereas getting close to the Partnach stream in the gorge used to be dangerous, today, there are two safe and spectacular trails available for visitors. If you are not afraid of heights, an iron bridge offers fascinating perspectives from a height of almost 70 meters (230 feet). The comfortable trail that was traditionally used by lumbermen, forest workers and hunters
is much closer to the roaring stream. Here, the foaming water is so close you can feel
the mist on your skin.

The Partnachklamm gorge is about a 25 minute walk from the parking lot at the Olympia Ski Stadium in Partenkirchen. Riding in a romantic horse carriage from the parking lot to
the entrance of the gorge is a faster and more convenient mode of transport. In every case, hikers – both young and old –  need sturdy shoes.

By the way: The Partnachklamm gorge in Garmisch-Partenkirchen forms a source of adventure and point of departure for numerous hikes in the surrounding area both in
summer and winter. The Ferchenbachtal valley, Reintal valley all the way up to the peak of Zugspitze and the Eckbauer, Hausberg or Kreuzeck mountain hiking areas are all popular destinations.
